A song of note

This song is powerful. Leeland has some nice vocal combinations; sounds like he’s got good control of his voice. I really like the title too. The lyrics are moving and deeply emotional. Great song.

I don’t think this song is really about poverty and homelessness, though it is a big part. I think it’s purpose is similar to the production we had at Christmas, which you can view here.

As much as it is ignored, there are so many people reaching out their hands for something freeing and uplifting. This song brings out the true emotional angst of God, yearning for his children to come home and back to him.

This video is not an official one – there wasn’t an official one that could find – but I think it captures some powerful images that fit in with the whole idea. Well, here it is, Leeland’s “Tears of the Saints”:

I certainly find this video quite moving, especially when I consider the intimate link I share with the population in the video. Some of the images captured in the video remind me vividly of a quote I read recently: “don’t look down on anyone unless you are helping them up”. To me, this is a premise we should all live by… unfortunately, somewhere in the video, I lose the intimacy of this though… when we are referred to as sinners, I’m left with a major distate in my mouth *figuratively of course*

I often feel that too much emphasis is placed on the “sins” of mankind as opposed to their gifts, their assets, their strengths. Some would certainly say I’m not a deeply religious man but I certainly consider myself a man of beliefs and values. For me, the message is lost at the word sinners… perhaps I am simply too sinical *there’s that word again – sin* or just too picky.

Well it seems that this subject got an awful lot out of me… I don’t usually write this much on a blog…

Thank you for your comment WS. I didn’t expect to get such honesty from anyone:D You know, I think you’re completely right that people focus too much on “sins”. That’s a religious word that is lost in translation. It’s not about the bad things we may or may not have done. The reality is a broken intimacy and relationship with our Creator, when all he really wants is for us to reach out our hand and trust that he’s going to take care of things. God just wants to hang out with you.

I don’t think there was anything wrong with your comment. There was no “sin” in it, especially since it’s spelled cynical:D, and you weren’t being cynical, only honest.
