Few in our world have the ability, knowhow, and opportunity to positively influence millions. To attempt to sway the masses for good is commendable – to succeed is beyond.

Heavy metal superstars of time past and present, Mötley Crüe is one of the most renowned and influential rock bands of the 80s. Main songwriter and bassist, Nikki Sixx, deserves an honourable mention for the release of “The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rockstar”. His book has been a New York Best Seller and has gained the attention of Patrick Kennedy, promoting addiction awareness. These candid memoirs of mortal brushes with death through heroin addictions and reckless living, is helping to change many lives.

Classic rock superstars, U2, continue to gain worldwide prestige. Lead singer, Bono, deserves an honourable mention for his role as spokesperson for the One Campaign – “a campaign to make poverty history”. This campaign has enabled many to stand against extreme poverty and global disease. The white bracelets, a reminder to all, old and young, are helping to change many lives.

If you ask me, (and I’ll tell you regardless) I think Bono is currently being a Bonehead. Just in case you haven’t seen this article. Take a look at what Bono is recently taking the time to finance a mere 140 million pounds into. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/10/13/nu2113.xml
So instead of donating this money to the “extreme poverty and global disease” he’s so concerned with he’s going to invest in a 600ft apartment/recording studio that will most likely deface the Dublin waterfront and serve as a giant phallic symbol for the band. Oh, but don’t worry:
“In keeping with Bono’s reputation as the rock star with a conscience, the accommodation will include 34 social and affordable flats. The remainder will be luxury apartments, while a five-star hotel will be built in an adjoining building.”

Well isn’t that nice of him…

The U2 tower may be a waste of all things precious, but this wasn’t a comment on Bono’s fairness, morality, or nicety. It is an honourable mention for someone who has done something good. We’ve all stolen from the cookie jar at some point.

    Thanks for the honest comment!

People should wear what they want, rather than blindly follow others.
