Twink

09.2007

Wikipedia gives several definitions of what a twink is:
-a young or young-looking male homosexual
-a character from the Nintendo 64 game Paper Mario
-a British brand of hair product once produced by Elida
-the nickname of John Charles Alder, a British singer and drummer
-the nickname of Adele King, an Irish entertainer
-an endearing fan name for the Minnesota Twins and the Hollywood Stars
-a character from the children’s TV show Rainbow Brite
-a brand of correction fluid

But the definition I’m concerned with is The Twink or Twinking:
-a term used in role-playing games to describe a low level playing style
-outfitting a new character with items or other resources that are not normally available to new or low-level characters
-a powergamer or munchkin
-this process is done to make the process of leveling easier and faster or to give a character an edge

The driving force behind a twink is the question “How can I win?” – tweak this stat here, modify this skill there, up this ability here, synergy bonuses everywhere, just about anything that will maximize performance on every possibility for their character. This is a warning: If you have seen a twink or know a twink, consider them highly dangerous to the imagination, to role-playing, and to the idea of fun. They are to be avoided at all costs.

An afterthought: Why bother when Red Mage will do it better? Stat swap!
